Designing the right website with the best webdesign strategy
March 16, 2010So you came here to learn a little about webdesign? Well let me give you a few hint’s to get you started on your quest to make the perfect website.
Planning the site before you start.
This is probably the most important part of building a successful webdesign.
Most people just rush into it, sits down in front of the computer and start on the webpage once, correcting it as they move again. Which this strategy sometimes yields a fine page they fail to do proper linking structurs, organizing the various content on the web site properly making it harder for the users to find the information/product they were looking for.
So before you sit and begin, analyze your customers, what age are they? Where do they normally come from ect.
Not much in using slang like “Yo, Mamma click here to dig this hot Ride” when your customers are 50+ years female english people. Or use to complex language when dealing with kids or poorly educated people.
Keep the same linking structure through the whole site, consistance is the key to making things easier to find, look at what others do and copy that instead of trying to invente your own system. Surfers tend to like stuff they are familiar with which is one of the most important things in good webdesign.
Keep it simple
Don’t use a lot of animated gifs, cool visual functions ect. It distracts the user more than it helps, the point is to lead them to what they are looking for as fast and easy as possible, so to cut down on the amount of links they have to go through in order to find it. Don’t add addition non essental feature that will only cause to distract them from reaching their goal. Don’t add graphics unless you are quite skilled in this or able to get some premade graphics for your site. Bad graphics/design usually scares of the users unless they came for a good laugh.
